Sometimes, we are afraid to speak out about our faith. King David didn’t have that problem. Here is what he said in Psalm 40, verses 9 and 10.
I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness
in the great congregation;
Behold, I will not restrain my
lips,
O Lord, You know.
I have not hidden Your
righteousness within my heart;
I have spoken of Your faithfulness
and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your
lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.
One of the things that I pray I will be able to do with these short messages is let people know that righteousness can be attained. It isn’t something that we work for or that we get by being good enough. It isn’t something that is mystically conferred on people by pious acts.
According to the psalm, righteousness comes because of the Lord’s faithfulness, his lovingkindness, and his truth.
It comes only by faith and faith in Jesus Christ. When we turn to Jesus Christ for our salvation and forgiveness of sins, His righteousness is imputed or credited to us.
