Seek the Lord

What are the benefits of seeking the Lord? Psalm 40 verse 16 pronounces this blessing on everyone who seeks the Lord.

But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation
say continually, “Great is the Lord!”

This is a statement of blessing that comes upon those who seek the Lord. The first blessing is a life of rejoicing. Rejoicing is celebrating. If you are a Christian and you are seeking the Lord, is your life a life of celebration in knowing Jesus? It should.

The second blessing is a life of gladness. This is more related to happiness, but it is more than that. It doesn’t mean we have a false outward appearance of happiness. We really should have in us a supportive nature of joy knowing that we belong to the Lord. Our future is secure.

The reason we have that gladness, is rightly connected to loving the salvation that Jesus freely gives us. We haven’t done anything to earn it, it is His gift to us when we trust Him for salvation. That’s why we continually say, “Great is the Lord!” and celebrate.

If you don’t know Jesus, you have nothing of eternal value to celebrate or be glad about. Watch my video on the Gospel on YouTube to know Jesus and his salvation.
