God's Transcendence - God is not part of creation—He stands above it.

God’s transcendence means that He exists above and beyond creation. He is not part of the universe, not limited by space, time, matter, or the laws He made. God is completely distinct from everything He created. That matters because if God were just a bigger part of the universe, He would still be limited like everything else. But He is not. He is the One who made all things and stands over all things.

This also connects to what comes before it: because God has aseity—because He exists in and of Himself and depends on nothing—He must also be transcendent. A dependent being belongs to creation. But the self-existent God is beyond it. He is “wholly other,” greater than anything we can compare Him to.

And yet, God’s transcendence is not meant to push us away in fear only—it is meant to fill us with awe, humility, and confidence. The God who is above all is not trapped by our limits, our chaos, or our weakness. He is high above creation, and that means He is fully able to rule it, sustain it, and reveal Himself to us. God is near to His people, but never reduced to the level of His creation. That is the wonder of God’s transcendence.
