Accountability to God

Why do we say we are accountable to God?

The reason is revealed in Psalm 24 verses 1 and 2.

“The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. “

Think about that and work backwards in the two verses.

God founded or created the world.

He is the Maker and the Maker owns what he has made.

The earth belongs to the Lord God and not only the earth but all that is in it.

Now he is talking about you and me. He made us. It gets personal.

In verse 3 David asks,

“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place?”

In other words, who can stand before our Maker?

The answer is given in verse 4

“He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.”

There is the accountability for us all to live godly lives because we are made by him.

Verse 5 tells us the blessing for those who accept this accountability and seek God.

“He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

Skies Declare The Glory of God

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Ps 19:1). We can personally know the Creator of the universe.

You know, people say there is no God. I don’t understand how they can say that. All they need to do is look outside and the Lord is evident.

King David explained it in Psalm 19 verses 1 through 4

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.

All we need to do is look up at the skies, whether we are looking at the beauty of a night sky with the moon and the stars.

Or we are watching the colors changing from a sunset or sunrise, there is beauty that declares that these things didn’t come into being from nothing. Nothing cannot make something.

Each new day is a shout from God that he is here. He is always with us. Everything in each day is a testimony that God is holding all things together and making sure that the next day comes as well.

Every night displays the knowledge that God is great, and we are not. There is no way we can transport ourselves to the ends of the universe, but the Lord is already there and has put it into place.

It doesn’t matter who we are or where we live. It doesn’t matter what langue we speak. It doesn’t matter what we believe to be true or false. This revelation of God in nature screams, “God is real” and it echoes to the ends of the earth and every part of the world.

There is no escaping this truth, we can deny it with our dying breath or we can turn and seek this almighty God who has made everything. Romans 1 verse 20 says no one will have an excuse for denying God’s eternal power and divine nature.

The God who made the universe want us to know him personally. We can know him by trusting Jesus for salvation,
