City of God

From the time of King David, Jerusalem has been known as the City of God. This is how it was described in Psalm 48:1-3:

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise,
in the city of our God, his holy mountain.
It is beautiful in its loftiness,
the joy of the whole earth.
Like the utmost heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion,
the city of the Great King.
God is in her citadels;
he has shown himself to be her fortress.

The Babylonians almost destroyed it, but it was rebuilt. The Romans did the same and it has been rebuilt. Will the current Israeli and Palestinian conflicts destroy it again?

Who knows? Though many people believe that this is the last time it will be rebuilt and is fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament, it could be destroyed again before Jesus comes back. In fact, Revelation 11:8 calls the city Sodom and Egypt because it will become so corrupt. A tenth of the city will be destroyed in an earthquake.

But the true city of God is described in Hebrews 11:10 as the city “whose architect and builder is God.” In verse 16 it is said to be in “a better country — a heavenly one.” It also says God “has prepared a city for them.”

This is the city that is described in the Psalm, not a man made city. It is also described in Revelation 21. In verse 27, we are told “only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life” will be able to enter it.

Do you want to be able to enter this eternal glorious city where there will be no more pain, sorrow, death, or any evil? If so, watch my video on the Gospel YouTube or read on this Gospel link. If your name is in the Lamb’s book of life, you will overwhelmingly want to have Him as your Lord and Savior.

Skies Declare The Glory of God

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Ps 19:1). We can personally know the Creator of the universe.

You know, people say there is no God. I don’t understand how they can say that. All they need to do is look outside and the Lord is evident.

King David explained it in Psalm 19 verses 1 through 4

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.

All we need to do is look up at the skies, whether we are looking at the beauty of a night sky with the moon and the stars.

Or we are watching the colors changing from a sunset or sunrise, there is beauty that declares that these things didn’t come into being from nothing. Nothing cannot make something.

Each new day is a shout from God that he is here. He is always with us. Everything in each day is a testimony that God is holding all things together and making sure that the next day comes as well.

Every night displays the knowledge that God is great, and we are not. There is no way we can transport ourselves to the ends of the universe, but the Lord is already there and has put it into place.

It doesn’t matter who we are or where we live. It doesn’t matter what langue we speak. It doesn’t matter what we believe to be true or false. This revelation of God in nature screams, “God is real” and it echoes to the ends of the earth and every part of the world.

There is no escaping this truth, we can deny it with our dying breath or we can turn and seek this almighty God who has made everything. Romans 1 verse 20 says no one will have an excuse for denying God’s eternal power and divine nature.

The God who made the universe want us to know him personally. We can know him by trusting Jesus for salvation,
