God’s Attributes - Glory

God’s glory means this: the radiant display of who God is in all His perfection.
His glory is not one attribute beside the others.
It is the shining beauty, weight, worth, and majesty of all that God is.

God’s glory is His holiness displayed.
His goodness displayed.
His wisdom displayed.
His power displayed.
His love, justice, mercy, grace, patience, faithfulness, sovereignty, and nearness displayed.

That means God’s glory is the visible and knowable radiance of His invisible greatness. When God reveals His character, His works, His name, His salvation, and His presence, He is displaying His glory.

And God’s glory connects to every attribute because every attribute reveals something true and beautiful about Him.
Because God is self-existent, His glory depends on nothing outside Himself.
Because God is infinite, His glory has no limit.
Because God is eternal, His glory never fades.
Because God is holy, His glory is pure.
Because God is good, His glory is beautiful.
Because God is sovereign, all creation exists under His purpose.
And because God is love, mercy, and grace, His glory is seen most clearly in the face of Jesus Christ.

Everything exists to reflect, reveal, and respond to the glory of God. Creation declares it. Scripture reveals it. The gospel displays it. Worship celebrates it. And eternity will be filled with it.

That is the wonder and glory of God’s glory.

Worship God

Do you worship God? Do you even know what worship is? David gave us this insight into worship in Psalm 29 verse 1 and 2

Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

Who is to worship the Lord? Might ones. The literal translation is sons of God. Are you a son or daughter of God? Have you been adopted into God’s family through Jesus Christ? If so, then you are to give credit to God for his glory. 

You are to give credit to God of his strength. You are to give credit to God because of his name. It is only by the name of Jesus that anyone is saved. Give credit to God for that.

God’s glory and strength are shown in his holiness which is so splendid that it invokes worship. Jesus said we must worship in spirit and truth. We can only worship God through Jesus when Jesus lives in us by faith.
