God’s Attributes - Love - God gives Himself for the good of others

God’s love is not needy or weak. It is holy, wise, faithful, and self-giving—seen most clearly in Jesus Christ.

God’s love means this: God gives Himself for the good of others.
His love is not needy.
It is not selfish.
It is not unstable.
It is not based on what He lacks.
God does not love because He needs something from us. God loves because love flows from who He is.

And God’s love does not stand alone. It is connected to everything else He is.
Because God is holy, His love is pure and never corrupt.
Because God is good, His love is kind and generous.
Because God is wise, His love always knows what is best.
Because God is just, His love never ignores evil.
Because God is immutable, His love does not change with our circumstances.
Because God is eternal, His love has no expiration date.
And because God has aseity, His love is not driven by need, loneliness, or lack.

That means God’s love is not weak sentiment. It is holy, wise, faithful, powerful, and true. He does not love by lowering His holiness. He loves by giving Himself in perfect righteousness and grace.

We see God’s love most clearly in Christ. The holy God came near to sinners, not because we were worthy, but because He is loving. At the cross, God’s love did not ignore justice; it satisfied justice so mercy could reach us.

So God’s love means He gives Himself for our good, without need, without weakness, and without change. His love is self-giving, holy, faithful, and seen most clearly in Jesus.

That is the comfort and glory of God’s love.
